How to care for your septic system.

How to care for your septic system

1. Use water efficiently.
Excessive water consumption from leaky faucets, taking longer than normal showers, washing small loads of laundry with high water settings, or running a sparsely loaded dishwasher, is hard on your septic system. Practicing simple water conservation, like fixing leaky water faucets, installing low volume shower heads, and replacing old high volume toilets with new low volume toilets, will go a long way in preventing septic system failure. Spreading your laundry and dish washing out over several days of the week will also help to insure that you don't over load your system.

2. Do not use your system for garbage disposal.
Non sewage items will clog and overload your system. These items include: garbage, coffee grounds, diapers, feminine hygiene products, paper towels, medicine, hazardous waste, automotive oil, gasoline, and anti-freeze.

3. Be aware of where the system is located.
You should be aware of where the septic system is located on your property. A review of the permit should assist you with this. Protecting your septic system's drain field, tank, utility lines, and expansion area is extremely important in maintaining your system. Do not drive or park on your septic system, including the expansion area, as this will compact the soils. Do not construct anything on top of the system, including walkways, patios, swing sets, or buildings.

Septic Tank Cleaning Service

Many of us do not give our septic systems a second thought as we go about our life. There are few things in our home that we depend on more than the septic system that removes waste from our homes. Here's what to expect when Logan Septic Service comes to clean your septic tank(s).

  1. We will locate your septic tank and uncover the lids. By inspecting the lid and top of the tank we can determine what the tank is made of and gain insight into the condition of the septic tank.
  2. We will pump out your septic tank including not only the water but also remove the sludge that has settled to the bottom of your septic tank.
  3. We will let you know if there are any repairs that need to be made to maintain the integrity of your septic system.
  4. Before we leave, we will have you flush your toilet and run your garbage disposal to make sure there is no blockage in the pipe systems.

Levi using an agitator to clean the tank

We use an agitator to clean the tanks. An agitator is designed to circulate and agitate the crust, liquids, and solids in the the septic tank, into a liquid form. This process allows us to clean the tank more efficiently.

We strive to create only minimal disturbance on your property and will advise you if any unusual or additional disturbances are needed.
